Boys’ Brigade and Girl Guiding Gift Service

The Boys’ Brigade and Girl Guiding have been thinking about all the poor children and families in our area who are struggling and with Christmas fast approaching we decided to offer our hand of friendship hence the idea of a Gift Service. The Service will be held on Tuesday 5th December at 7pm in the Hartlaw buildings of the church.

All the organisations will contribute in different ways i.e. donate one nights collections, decorate and fill boxes as part of badge work and we wondered if the congregation would like to take part, we would be grateful if you could donate something from the list below.

All donations will stay in our area

We have contacted Local food Banks and Children’s First to come along to our Gift Service to receive our gifts.

Annual Holiday 2017 – Scarborough

The Emmaus Centre
Near Scarborough

Monday 3rd April – Saturday 8th April 2016

This year we have returning to The Emmaus Centre at Wydale Hall between the villages of Snainton and Brompton-by-Sawdon near Scarborough.

The Emmaus Centre

This centre has been used many times in the past the company, and both the boys and the staff have aways had a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. The centre is a large self-catering stables conversion situated in the grounds of Wydale Hall and is around twenty minutes drive from Scarborough. We will have exclusive use of The Emmaus Centre and its facilities; which include a large All-Weather sports pitch, an adventure playground and orienteering course. As in previous years this will be a joint holiday with the Juniors and Company Section, although each section will be running their own programme of activities.

4x4 Driving Experience

4×4 Driving Experience

Activities for the holiday have now been finalised and these can be seen below. As normal we plan to use the centre as a base to visit attractions in the local area such as a Flaming Land Theme Park, 4×4 Driving and even Horse Riding. We will also make use of the attractions of Scarborough, as well as Swimming, Ten-Pin Bowling and a visit to the cinema.

Annual Holiday 2017 – Dates for payment of balance

Our annual holiday, which this year is to Scarborough, is fast approaching and will be here before you know it. Our activities have now been booked. We would ask at this time that you please note the below deadline dates for payment of the balance of the holiday:

  • Junior Section – 20th March 2017
  • Company Section – 22nd March 2017

We will be providing more information around the holiday soon. However, one thing we would bring to your attention just now is that each boy must have a sleeping bag as bedding is not provided at the centre. If you do not have one these can be purchased from many places popular choices include: Argos; Go Outdoors and Decathlon. Prices can often start as low as £9.99.
