Annual Holiday 2017 – Junior Section & Company Section

This year we have booked the Emmaus Centre at Wydale on the outskirts of Scarborough for our annual holiday, from Monday 3rd to Saturday 8th April 2017 (first week of the school Easter holidays). The centre is self-catering and is situated in the grounds of a large country house operated as a hotel by the Church of England. We will have exclusive use of the centre and its facilities which include a large TV and games room, and a floodlit outdoor multi-court.

Emmaus Centre, Wydale

As previously this will be a joint holiday with both the Junior Section and Company Section holidaying together, however the sections will be accommodated within separate areas of the centre and will operate largely separate programmes of activities; coming together mainly for meals.

Activities for the duration of our stay have yet to be confirmed, but we plan to use the centre as a base to visit attractions in the local area such as Scarborough, a theme park, paintball and go-karting; as well as activities such as swimming, bowling and a cinema trip.

If you wish your son to attend the holiday, a deposit of £25 must be paid by the below dates:

  • Junior Section – Monday 30th January, 2017
  • Company Section – Wednesday 1st February, 2017

Boys in each section have been issued letters which provide details specific to their section. Boys will be issued with a payment card and the balance of the holiday can be paid up week by week if you wish. The full balance is due no later than Monday 20th March, 2017 for Junior Section and Wednesday 22nd March, 2017 for Company Section.

Please note that any cancellations after 1st March will be subject to payment in full.

Gift Service – 7pm 07/12/2016

The 167th Glasgow Boys’ Brigade and the Girl Guiding units of St Andrew & St Nicholas have been thinking about all the poor children and families in our area who are struggling and with Christmas fast approaching we decided to offer our hand of friendship hence the idea of a Gift Service.

All the organisations will contribute in different ways: e.g. donate one night’s collections; decorate and fill boxes as part of badge work.

All donations will stay in our area.

We have contacted Local Food Banks and Children 1st to come along to our Gift Service to receive our gifts, on Wednesday 7th December at 7pm in the Hartlaw Crescent church. All visitors will also be made most welcome, so please do come along on 7th December for our service at 7pm.

Fundraising Bag Pack

Sainsbury’s Braehead have offered us a bag pack slot on Sunday 11th December 2016 from 12.00 to 17.00. We will be looking for as many boys’ and parents to assist with this as possible.

Company Section trip to Laser Tag – 28/09/2016

Just a reminder to all Company Section boys and parents that the Company Section is going to Laser Tag on Wednesday 28th September.

Cost is £6.00 and boys should meet at the church no later than 7pm.  Boys will be dropped at home upon return from the outing. No uniform should be worn.
